NEPSE WACC Guide
What is WACC in Nepal?
WACC stands for Weighted Average Cost of Capital. In the context of NEPSE, it is the average price you paid for your shares after including all expenses like broker fees, SEBON commissions, and DP charges.
Capital Gains Tax Impact
When you sell shares, the tax (5% for long-term or 7.5% for short-term) is calculated based on the difference between your selling price and your WACC. Updating this correctly in MeroShare ensures you don't overpay tax.
Common WACC Questions
Does WACC include Bonus Shares?
Yes. Bonus shares increase your total units while keeping the total cost the same (since you paid Rs. 0), which lowers your average WACC.
What brokerage rate should I use?
As of Jestha 2081, broker commissions were reduced. For transactions up to Rs. 50,000, the rate is 0.36%. Our calculator automatically applies these tiers based on your total transaction amount.
