Does taking a drop really worth it?

Should I take drop for competitive exam
Why aspirants took drop for any entrance examination?

First, lets talk about why aspirants took drop.

Well, in my opinion, they took a year or more than a year drop due to following reasons:

  • Incomplete Preparation: Many students feel that they were not fully prepared for competitive exams during their first attempt. They may have gaps in their knowledge and believe that an extra year of focused preparation will improve their chances of success.
  • Tough Competition: Competitive exams can be highly competitive, and missing the cutoff by a small margin can be frustrating. Students may take a drop year to refine their skills and increase their chances of success in the face of intense competition.
  • Mistakes and Pressure: Some students may have made mistakes during their initial attempt due to factors like exam pressure or stress. Taking a drop year allows them to learn from their mistakes and perform better.
  • Higher Aspirations: Some students have aspirations to secure admission in top-tier institutions or programs, and they may feel that taking a drop year is necessary to achieve these goals.

Although, there might be other several reasons, these are the most common reasons among the aspirants why they took drop.

Strategies, goals, focus for the dropper aspirants

Okay, if you have already or willing to take a drop then, what should be your strategies, goals, or on what subjects, etc. you have to focus on.

Literally, taking a drop can have both physical and mental pressure to the aspirants. Taking dive onto the current scenario, most of the aspirants took a drop and got relaxed for the whole year, roaming here and there, and so many stufs. They start preparing when the respected authority published the notice regarding the examination. After the result, either they took a drop again or give up.

Here's what they should consider:

  • In-Depth Revision: Review and revise all the core subjects thoroughly, paying special attention to areas where you faced challenges in your previous attempt.
  • Practice Paper: Solve a significant number of previous years' IOE entrance exam papers. This will help you become familiar with the exam pattern and gain confidence in solving the types of questions that are frequently asked.
  • Mock Tests: Take regular mock tests to assess your progress and identify areas where improvement is needed. This will also help you manage time effectively during the exam.
  • Focus on weak areas: This is the main reason for not increasing the marks in any competitive examinations. Identify and work on your weak areas. Spend more time on topics that you found challenging in your previous attempt.
  • Seek Guidance: If you face difficulties, don't hesitate to seek guidance from teachers, mentors, or coaching centers. They can provide valuable insights and support.
  • Stay Disciplined: Remember, Consistency is key. Maintain a disciplined approach to your studies and practice regularly.

These are some strategies every dropper should keep in mind.
